2008 ATA Summer Camp!

The end of ATA Summer Camp is a bittersweet moment, as you enjoy the time spent, but regret having to wait a full year for Camp-time again. The 2008 event was spectacular. A preliminary camp report can be found here, with a special video. An updated report will follow, as the pictures come in over the next couple of weeks. And if you haven't already got that 2nd weekend in July blocked off on your 2009 calendar, well, now's as good a time as any...

The annual Traditional Tang Soo Do Federation tournament in Cardiff, Wales, is complete. A trip report can be found here.

March 7-8 - Hundreds of competitors, thousands of spectators, dignitaries from all over - the 35th annual ATA tournament was, as always, one of the highlights of the Tang Soo Do year. For more, click here...

On December 1st, 2007, Grandmaster Byrne hosted Grandmaster Joe Lewis for a seminar on fighting in Malden. See pictures and a brief description here.

On August 11, Master Trudgill held a Black Belt test, and recently presented the first UTC promotions in Wales. See a picture here.

June 18 - Grandmaster Byrne hosted living legend Bill "Superfoot" Wallace at the ATA headquarters in Malden. For a brief report and pictures, click here...

March 16-17 - Large crowds made it through the worst storm of the winter to Grandmaster Byrne's annual All Tang Soo Do Tournament in Lynnfield. For a brief report and a couple of extensive picture galleries, click here...

November 4th - Master Peter Oien held his tournament in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Grandmaster Byrne, Master Mitchell, and several other New England members of the ATA attended. At this event, the big news was that Grandmaster Byrne promoted Master Oien to 7th Dan. Congratulations!

October 28, 2006 - The annual fall ATA Black Belt Test was held on Saturday, October 28, at Grandmaster Byrne's Malden studio. The test was followed by a seminar, that afternoon, with Grandmaster Byrne and the Masters of the ATA, open to all Red and Black belts. Several 1st Gups tested for 1st Dan, several Dan members tested for promotions, and two 5th Dans, Masters Brian White and Glen Simmons, tested for 6th Dan. Congratulations to all who took part! October 6th & 7th - Master David Rexer held his annual Central New York Classic in Endicott, New York. (Pictures soon...)

Grandmaster Byrne joined Master Penny Mitchell as she hosted the annual school demonstration for the students of the North Reading school on August 24th. Check back over the next few days for a brief report with some pictures...

Karate Legend Joe Lewis joined Grandmaster Richard Byrne and many ATA members in Malden on Wednesday evening, August 9. For a brief report and a bunch of pictures, click here...

If you missed all of the reminders to get your camp applications in, well, you're too late. You've missed one of the great events of the year, as the ATA gathered in force on Cape Cod. It was an event not to be missed, and if you missed it, you can click here to get a taste of what you missed, and remind you why it's important to get next year's application in early. Of course, if you are one of the tired, sun-burnt, happy campers, you can click here anyway, for a reminder of the good times...

The MetroWest ATA school recently participated in a "kick-a-thon," raising money to fight breast cancer. For more on the event, click here...

Over the course of Memorial Day weekend, Grandmaster Byrne, along with Master Penny Mitchell, Master Doug Housekeeper and Ms. Debi Ferlit, traveled to Germany to formally kick off the United Tang Soo Do Congress at Grandmaster Benedetto Stumpf's school in Wiesbaden. The trip featured a large seminar with the Americans and Germans joined by a large contingency from Holland, and also the first official promotions under with the imprimatur of the UTC were handed out.

On May 6th, the ATA held the spring Black Belt test at Grandmaster Byrne's Malden school. Students testing came from as far away as Indiana for the event, which was followed in the afternoon, as always, by an excellent seminar with Grandmaster Byrne and the Masters of the ATA.

On March 17 and 18th, competitors gathered in Lynnfield, MA, from as far away as Calgary, Alberta, for Grandmaster Richard Byrne's 33rd annual All Tang Soo Do Championship. As always, it was a wonderful event, with spirited competition from competitors aged 4-40+.
