Grandmaster Byrne Supports 'Vettes for Vets Day
1998 Corvette Convertible Pace Car Edition. Only 1163 were ever made.
On a blistering hot and humid Sunday on August 14th, 2005 Grandmaster Byrne met with approximately 75 other Corvette owners to join a short cruise beginning at the Burlington Mall in Burlington, Mass. The cruise was to the Veteran's Hospital in Bedford, Mass. about 15 minutes away.
Upon arriving at the hospital, all the Corvettes lined up on the grass to be judged the Best of the Day by the Veterans who were patients at the facility. Each Corvette ower gave a donation of a bag of personal necessities for the Veterans which were collected in a pick up truck. The bed of the truck was over flowing by the day's end!
Grandmaster Byrne, being a veteran himself, appeared in order to support the cause with his rare and pristine 1998 Corvette Convertible pace car. The event was held by the North Shore Corvettes of Mass. of which Grandmaster Byrne is a member. The group, in addition to all the personal items, gave a check of over $2,300.00 to help the Vets. Grandmaster Byrne stated "It's an honor to be able to support these fine men and women who, when duty called, they answered without hesitation. Many of whom made the supreme sacrifice. It's only fitting that we pay respect to those who fought for our freedom so that we may enjoy the benefits of living in this great country."
And no, Grandmaster Byrne did not win Best of Show that day but stated "That's okay, we were all winners that day anyway." Grandmaster Byrne donates much of his time to different charitable events.
